Dušníky
The existence of the Dušníky village was connected with the existence of the Doksan monastery, founded in 1144. There are no earlier reports about the village. After the Thirty Years‘ War, there were 12 homesteads belonging to the monastery, two pubs, a yard and a burnt-out hut in the village. The village used to have a circular layout. It is still visible on the oldest maps. The development of the village with new construction, which arose along the access roads, was started only after 1848, after the abolition of the labor (compulsory work on the lands of the nobility). To this day, however, several narrow streets with origins in the Middle Ages have been preserved in the middle of the village.

Dušníky, Europe’s oldest Stone Age cairn
In August 2021, archaeologists from the University of West Bohemia in Plzeň explored a newly discovered Stone Age mound. Its origin dates back to the beginning of the so-called funnel-cup culture around 3800 BC. Aerial photographs revealed a mound 86 metres long and 26 metres wide. Today it is about 1.5 metres high. Formerly, its height was enhanced by a ditch around its perimeter. It is one of the oldest mounds in Europe. A burial chamber with the skeleton of a boy of only about 11 years of age with a flint arrowhead in his shoulder was found in an exploratory trench. The child was clearly a member of the social elite of the time. The place was used for the worship of persons during the next few centuries. The site can be found behind the water reservoir in the immediate vicinity of the village of Dušníky. A few hundred metres further on, near the forest, another mound awaits archaeological investigation.
In sight of Mount Říp, explorations of similar ritual sites and burial places of apparently important great men continue. Another mound is for example by the road to Straskov. A mound near the village of Vražkov has been explored and other mounds around Mount Říp are still awaiting archaeological exploration. In the vicinity of Říp there are several places and locations where people hardly settled, but on the contrary, they mainly buried and worshipped deities.
